Doi Ang Khang is located 163 kilometers from Chaing Mai’s city and it takes about 3 hours by driving. The highest peak is 1300 meters above sea level and it makes a cool weather all year-round.

Sometimes refers to “Little Switzerland” of Thailand, Doi Ang Khang is one of the coldest place in Thailand. There you will enjoy breathtaking scenery, fresh air climate, and a peace and calm countryside. During the winter, in December to January, the temperature sometimes drops to zero or below.

Situated in Doi Ang Khang, The Royal Agricultural Station Ang Khang is the first research station for temperate climate fruit, vegetables, flowers and trees. The project has had great success using organic methods to plant non-tropical fruits and vegetables such as peaches, strawberries, raspberries, plums, beans and asparagus.

Along the route to Doi Ang Khang, hill tribe villages such as Ban Luang, Ban Khum, An Pang Ma, Nor Lae, Kob Dong and Ban Nong Mai Bua can be visited while driving on the mountain’s slopes. These villages feature an old-fashioned Yunnanese atmosphere.  You can see the villagers’ daily life and buy their handicrafts.

Other recommended attractions are flower gardens and Bonzai garden. At Bonzai garden, you can see a large collection of Bonsai plants from several regions.  At the flower gardens, you will enjoy stunning scenery and burgeoning plant life.

Details: Near Ban Khum village and the summit of Doi Ang Khang, there are several accommodations for visitors. The Royal Agricultural Station Ang Khang offers hillside bungalows. The accommodation at the Royal station is quite limited. Please call +66 5345 0107 to 9 (Ext. 113, 114) for accommodation inquiries. There are other leading hotels and resorts in Doi Ang Khang. Some of them provide 3-5 star accommodations.

How to get there: Doi Ang Khang is a 3-hour drive from Chiang Mai. Songtaews from Mae Kha Market offers chartered service to the mountain.
