: Chiang Mai

Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden is located 27 kilometers Northwest of Chiang Mai.  It is approximately a 45-minute drive from the city of Chiang Mai. The garden covers an area of about 1,000 hectares. Within the garden, there are huge collections of plant species, 12 exhibition greenhouses, gardens and nature trails.

Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden is formerly known as Mae Sa Botanic Garden. It is the first botanical garden in Thailand at international standards.

Since Thailand is richly blessed with abundance and variety of plants, the objectives of the garden are to make the best use of the resource and to gain the sustainable benefits from them. The other purpose is to be an educational resource for school children and anyone who is interested.

The garden covers a large area with a number of slopes.  In order to visit various part of the garden, taking vehicles is recommended.

How to get there: You may have to charter a Songtaew or TukTuk. If you have your own transport, head out of Chiang Mai on the Mae Rim 107 Road. Then, turn left on the Samoeng 1096. The garden will be on your left side.
